Special Educational Needs & Disability

We support all our pupils and help them to exceed expectations, feel confident and grow. If you child has special educational needs, the team at Moss Road is here to help. We have an experienced and dedicated team of teaching assistants led by our SENCO, Mrs Kathryn Briggs. We are confident that we can support your child with any special educational needs or disabilities your child may have.

Your child may have difficulties in these areas:

  • behaviour or ability to socialise
  • reading and writing
  • the ability to understand things
  • concentration levels (they could have ADHD)
  • the physical ability to undertake both classroom tasks or in PE/play situations.

Please come and talk to us if you think your child needs any of the following help:

  • a special learning programme
  • extra help from a teacher or teaching assistant in undertaking class activities
  • extra encouragement in their learning, eg to try/persevere with something they find difficult
  • help communicating with other children
  • support with physical or personal care difficulties, eg eating, getting around school safely or using the toilet

Graduated Approach

The provision for all pupils is based upon the graduated response. The first step in this is high quality inclusive teaching and whole school systems for assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing progress. Click below to find out more about Moss Road's approach under each stage.
