At Askern Moss Road Infant Academy, we follow the Kapow Primary Geography curriculum, which is designed to spark curiosity and nurture a sense of wonder about the world around us. We aim to develop young learners who are eager to explore, ask questions and begin to think like geographers.
Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to develop pupils’ geographical knowledge and skills as they progress through the school.
A key intention of our curriculum is to build an early understanding of sustainability and caring for our environment. Children are introduced to the concept of climate change in an age-appropriate way, helping them to recognise how their actions can impact the world and how they can make positive choices.
We aim to help pupils understand how places and environments shape everyday life, both locally and globally, while beginning to recognise how these can change over time. Through engaging experiences, children develop confidence in exploring the world around them and begin to make connections between people, places and environments.
Our Geography curriculum is inclusive, accessible and ambitious, ensuring that all pupils can participate fully and develop their knowledge, skills and understanding.
We follow the Kapow Primary Geography curriculum, which is carefully sequenced to develop pupils’ geographical knowledge and skills progressively from Reception through to Year 2.
Children are provided with opportunities to explore geographical concepts through engaging and practical learning experiences. Fieldwork, discussion and enquiry are used to help children develop their understanding and apply their geographical knowledge.
Our Geography curriculum is mapped against the National Curriculum to ensure appropriate coverage and progression.
