At Askern Moss Road Infant Academy, our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) aims to provide every child with a happy, caring, safe and secure environment in which they can learn, grow and thrive. We support children to make a confident and positive transition from home to school, helping them to develop the skills, independence and resilience they need to become successful lifelong learners.
Our curriculum is carefully planned to reflect the needs, interests and experiences of each cohort, while remaining responsive to the individual children within it. We provide a balance of adult-led and child-initiated learning opportunities that build on what children already know and can do. We encourage children to be curious, creative and confident, giving them meaningful opportunities to explore, investigate, ask questions and learn through play.
Outdoor learning is an important part of our EYFS provision. Children have regular opportunities to explore and learn outdoors, developing their physical skills, independence, curiosity and understanding of the world around them. We recognise the value of children having the freedom to explore, discover, take appropriate risks and learn alongside one another.
At Moss Road, our Nursery and Reception children benefit from opportunities to learn alongside and support one another. Older children can develop confidence, responsibility and leadership through supporting younger children, while younger children learn from positive role models and develop their own confidence and independence. These shared experiences nurture kindness, friendship, cooperation and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
We provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework, designed to give all children the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to succeed. We value strong partnerships with parents, carers and other professionals and work together to ensure that every child feels happy, valued and ready to learn.
